How to Make Shamrock Strip Folding Cards

Read through the instructions before starting.

Scroll down to see the materials and instructions for the card design. Refer to the Strip Folding Cards tutorial for step-by-step instructions.

#1: Colorful Shamrocks Card
Decorative paper:
Colored paper:
  • Solid blue for inner frame
  • Assorted decorative papers in green and blue or other springtime colors
Materials:
  • White card blank: 4¼″ by 5½″

Prep work: Download the Spring Green Simple Stripes ePaper and print on white paper or cardstock—cut a rectangle the size of the card front: 4¼″ by 5½″. Download Shamrocks on Pale Blue and Shamrocks on Light Green ePapers and print, scaled 50%, on white paper or cardstock.

Download and print the shamrock templates onto white paper or cardstock. Cut out the top left template and the bottom Happy St. Patrick's Day banner (½″ by 4¼″). Cut a ¾" by 4¼″ strip of Shamrocks on Pale Blue paper. Glue the message banner to this strip.

To make the card: Follow the instructions in the Strip Folding Cards tutorial, steps 2 thru 6. In Step 2, use strips of Shamrocks on Light Green for the outer frame, a variety of strips in blues and greens for the corners, and a medium blue solid for the inner frame. In Step 3, use the shamrock template you cut out as a guide for marking the midpoints.

To assemble card: Glue the Spring Green Simple Stripes rectangle to cover the card front. Glue the framed shamrock image and the message banner to the card as pictured.
