How to Make Strip Folding Tulip Cards

Read through the instructions before starting.

Scroll down to see the materials and instructions for the card design. Refer to the Strip Folding Heart Cards tutorial for step-by-step instructions. You may have better success, if you make a heart motif card first.

#1: Single Tulip Motif Card
  • Dark green card blank: 4¼″ by 5½″
  • Spring green paper for leaves
  • Red or pink mottled paper for tulip
  • Blue paper for background (Clouds in blue sky download)
  • Patterned paper in spring colors for border

Prep work: Download and print the tulip pattern on paper. The pattern includes a template in two sizes—2¼" and 3".

To make the card: Follow the instructions in the Strip Folding Heart Cards tutorial, steps 3 thru 7, then 9 and 10. In Step 5, use strips of patterned paper in spring colors for the frame/border. In Step 7, fold and apply strips as indicated in the template from #1 thru #11. Use blue for the background areas: 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 10. Use spring green paper strips for the leaves: 3 and 4. Use red or pink paper for the tulip areas: 7, 8, and 11.
