Download this free printable octahedron template (PDF) to fold and assemble an eight-faced Platonic solid. Use it for geometry learning, party decorations, mobiles, or small gift packaging.
Each pattern is a PDF file that prints on standard Letter/A4 paper.
Print the pattern directly onto white cardstock, or print on regular paper and transfer/trace it onto sturdier card.
Note: There are templates for two sizes of octahedrons on the pattern.
Cut out the template along the solid outline.
Score along the dotted lines before folding for crisp edges.
Fold and glue the tabs marked in orange to join the triangular faces and form the octahedron. Refer to the assembled illustration to check the placement of each face.
Assembly Instructions: Shape the central strip of six connected triangles into a loop and glue the end tab to close it. Fold the single unconnected triangle at the top inward so it mates with the three adjacent triangles, and secure it with the two glue tabs. Repeat the same process at the bottom to finish the octahedron.
